Jigijam
Privacy policy
What a room needs from you while you are in it, what happens to it afterwards, and who else it passes through. No account needed, no profile, nothing sold.
01The short version
Jigijam is live rooms where AI characters talk, and where you can watch, type, take a chair and speak. You do not need an account for any of it, and without one we never ask for your email or phone number. A room may ask what to call you, and any name will do.
You can sign in with Apple if you want the rooms you make to stay yours when you change or reinstall your phone. That is the only thing an account does. You can use Hide My Email, and you can delete the account — and everything attached to it — from Settings at any time.
What you send while you are in a room — what you type, and your voice while you hold the talk button — is processed so the room can respond to it, and is heard or read by the other people in that room. When you leave, it is gone.
02What we collect
Only what a room needs while you are in it:
- Comments you type. Shown to everyone in the room, and used by the AI characters to decide what to say next.
- The name you give when a room asks what to call you. It is shown to the people in that room, and the characters may say it aloud.
- Your voice, only while you hold the talk button in a chair. Everyone in the room hears it live, and it is turned into text so the characters can respond.
- Your camera, only in a room with a camera, and only after you switch it on yourself. While it is on, everyone in the room sees your live video; it is carried live by the video service we use and not recorded. One photo from it is described once so the host can react to how you look, and then discarded.
- A random id for your installation of the app, created on your phone the first time you open it. We use it only to keep any one device from overloading the rooms, and to cut off a device that is being abusive. It says nothing about who you are, our servers only ever see a scrambled version of it, and deleting the app forgets it for good.
- If you sign in with Apple: an identifier Apple gives us for you, which is unique to Jigijam and cannot be used to find you anywhere else, and your email address if you choose to share it. If you use Hide My Email we only ever see Apple's forwarding address, never your real one. We never receive your Apple password. We do not ask Apple for your name, photo or contacts, and we use the email only to answer you if you write to us.
- If you create or remix a room: the description you write, and the room built from it — its name, its characters and what they are told to do. It is stored so the room can run, and it is shown to everyone who can enter that room: anyone, for a public room, or the people you send the code to, for a private one. If you are signed in, the room is attached to your account so it stays yours; if you are not, it is attached to your installation and is lost if you reinstall.
- If you buy something: the app store handles the payment and we never see your card or your name. We receive what was bought, when, and whether a subscription is active, linked to a random purchase id that the app creates and that says nothing about who you are. For a superchat we also record that it has been used, so each one is delivered exactly once.
- Basic technical information every internet service receives, such as your device type and IP address, used to run the service and to stop abuse.
03AI processing, and who else sees your data
Jigijam is built on AI. To make a room work, what you send is processed by specialist AI services we use as suppliers: speech-to-text to turn your voice into words, language models to write what the characters say, voice synthesis to speak it, image understanding to describe your photo in a camera room, and language and image models to build a room from the description you write and to draw its cover picture.
That means your comment, your speech, your photo and your room description leave your phone and are processed by those companies on our behalf. They are contractually limited to processing it for us and are not permitted to use it to build their own products.
Purchases are checked through a payment-processing supplier that works with the app store. It receives the random purchase id and what was bought, and nothing else about you.
We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.
04What we keep
Rooms are live, not recorded. We do not store recordings of what is said in a room, and voice is passed on to the other people in the room and then discarded.
We keep a few things longer. Rooms you create, for as long as the room exists. Reports, when somebody reports a comment, a person or a room, including the reported text — we cannot act on a report without keeping what was reported. Purchase records, for as long as we need them to deliver what was bought and to meet the app store's and the law's requirements. And ordinary server logs, which we keep for a short period to run the service and investigate abuse.
05Children
Jigijam is not for children. Rooms contain strong language and adult humour, and are rated accordingly on the App Store. You must be old enough for that rating to use the app.
06Your choices
The microphone and the camera are used only when you choose to use them, and you can refuse both and still watch every room. You can turn either off at any time in your device settings.
You can block anyone in a room so you no longer see their comments or hear their voice, and you can report anything you think crosses a line.
If you have not signed in, there is nothing of yours for us to look up or delete after you close the app. If you want a room you created removed, or a report you made withdrawn, write to us.
If you have signed in, Settings → Delete account removes your account and every room you made, permanently, and tells Apple to end the sign-in too. We keep nothing afterwards. Comments already said in a room carry no account and cannot be traced back to one. A subscription is separate and is cancelled in your Apple Account settings.
07This website
Everything above is about the Jigijam app. This section is about jigijam.com, which is a different thing.
The site no longer asks for anything. Before the app was released it had a form for an email address; if you used it, we kept your address only to tell you once that the app was out. We do not send anything else to it, we do not pass it to anyone, and asking us to remove it takes one email.
The site sets no cookies, runs no advertising and no analytics, and does not track you between visits. Our host keeps ordinary server logs, as every website does.
